I discovered this podcast about a year back and have been listening on and off during that time. I highly recommend it to any music students interested in learning more about Classical music. The host, Joshua Weilertstein, is the artistic director for the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. His passion for the music comes across in his podcast and he has found a wonderful balance between technical terminology and more general discussion of what is happening in a particular piece of music. He plays clips from the piece being discussed and explains clearly and succinctly what is happening. Finally, he also does his best to put the composer’s lives at the time of the creation of the piece of music into context. We love this podcast at Barn Owl Music so check it out if you want to learn more about Classical music and its rich and varied history.
